Ostrich Flowers
This egg is called Ostrich Flowers because it obviously has flowers, but those flowers are made from ostrich feathers.
This egg has an unusual story behind it. I actually dreamed of this egg- literally. I often work out problems while I’m sleeping, and I was trying to get ready for my first group show. I needed to have 25 eggs ready, and I felt creatively tapped. I went to bed and fell asleep, and dreamed of orange flowers growing in a misty grey sky. I woke up, ran downstairs, and sketched it immediately.
The next day, I found some great ostrich feathers and I thought they would be so interesting as flower petals. I gave it a grey background with white speckles for clouds, and after making the flowers, I gave them pearl centers.
